Youth

Joy. Connection. Experience. Service.

Annual Work Camp Service Trip

Youth Group is a ministry for teens in 7th through 12th grades. Youth typically meet on Sunday evenings from 4:30-6:00pm during the school year for games, music, and devotions. All are welcome to join as we seek to grow in faith, have fun, and serve our community.

Annual youth group activities include a fall weekend retreat at Casowasco Camp, raking leaves for our neighbors in the Fairport community, serving with Cameron Community Ministries at Christmastime, leading a Family Christmas Eve service, participating in a work camp service trip over the February break school vacation week; a summer bike ride along the historic Erie Canal path and a day at Seabreeze.

Each June we welcome rising 7th graders to our ministry and celebrate our graduating seniors. We also gather on Sunday mornings during the school year at 9:30am for Bible study.

PPC Youth Group is a great way to build friendships and grow in Christian faith through service and learning. We’d love to welcome you!

A recent graduate of the PPC Youth Group shares, “Youth Group was truly a staple of my teenage years. Thanks to it, I still hold strong to my faith and the friendships I made at those weekly meetings. Through community service opportunities and social events, youth group members gain great real-life experiences and form lifelong friendships. I owe it to our mentors and members that I have grown more comfortable in my skin and built a stronger relationship with God.”

YAK—Youth Advisory Council: The mission of YAK is to collaborate with youth ministry leaders in planning and leading our youth programs. Youth and parent members provide ideas and volunteer support. They meet monthly to reflect on what is going well in addition to how we might grow and strengthen our youth ministry programs at PPC.

Confirmation Class is a year-long program open to 7th and 8th graders and older youth who have not yet been confirmed. At PPC, we believe that the decision to profess Christian faith is between each youth and God and confirmation is a time to grow and deepen our faith journey.. Participants are paired with an adult faith partner who attends classes with them and supports them in their journey culminating in a final confirmation project, which is often a service project in the community. Once confirmed, youth become full members of the church.

Youth have opportunities to participate on Sunday mornings by singing in the choir, acting as liturgist, assisting with the Sunday School program, working in the tech booth, and attending youth breakfasts with special guests.
