MEET OUR NEW PASTOR: REV. LAURA FRY
Reverend Laura Fry has served as the solo pastor of Covington Presbyterian Church in Pavilion, NY for the past 11 years. She graduated from Davidson College in 2002 and then spent two years in the Presbyterian Young Adult Volunteer (YAV) program, serving in Belfast, Northern Ireland and Tucson, AZ. She then attended McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago, IL receiving her M. Div. in 2007.
She is married to the Reverend Mike Fry who is currently serving as Interim Pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Avon. Following his pastoral position in Avon, Mike is planning to put his ministry gifts to use in the non‐profit world.
The Frys have been married for 12 years and have two children, Alex (7) and Lydia (5). Alex will be entering 3rd grade this fall and Lydia will be entering kindergarten. As a family, they enjoy hiking, biking, reading, art and science experiments.
Laura has been active in our Presbytery, serving as chair of the Mission and Advocacy Committee for four years and as a member of the Vision and Strategy Team for four years.
As the daughter and granddaughter of mission co‐workers and as an alumna of the YAV program, mission is a key part of Laura’s congregational leadership. As a pastor she was part of a multi‐year program to strengthen congregational mission and in the words of Emil Brunner, she believes “the Church exists by mission as a fire exists by burning.”
