This Sunday we continue our “God’s Name Is” worship series with “Yahweh, meaning “I AM WHO I AM,” or “I WILL BE WHO I WILL BE.” This is God’s name revealed to Moses at the burning bush in Exodus 3:1-15. Whenever you see LORD in all capital letters in your Bible, it means that the Hebrew word is YHWH, this most holy name for God. In Jewish tradition the name of God is considered so holy that it is not spoken, and Adonai, meaning Lord, is inserted in its place. Although Christians do not have this same practice, we are reminded that God’s name is always to be spoken with reverence and respect. As we consider this powerful story from Exodus 3, I encourage you to meditate this week on what it means to you that God is the great I AM.
Also on Sunday, at 9:30am, we gather for our annual congregational meeting in the Fellowship Hall. Our theme verse for the meeting is from the Apostle Paul’s words to the church in Corinth, “I planted, Apollos watered, but God made it grow” 1 Corinthians 3:6.
I encourage you to think about two questions, in preparation for our annual meeting. There will be a chance to share in groups at your tables in response to these two questions:
1) How have YOU seen God helping us grow this past year?
2) What is ONE thing you can do to “plant” or “water” faith this coming year?
I look forward to continuing to plant and water together at PPC, as we watch God’s miracle grow of faith here in 2025.
Blessings everyone,
Pastor Laura
