Happy New Year PPC!
As we start 2024, I’m looking forward to another wonderful year of ministry together. Our church theme this year is “Loving God, Loving Our Neighbors” from Matthew 22:37-39. I’m excited to explore this focus Scripture and guiding direction with all of you. Loving God and our neighbors is especially important in the world right now, and together we will put this love into practice.
Today I’ll share one idea for “Loving God” and one idea for “Loving Our Neighbors” in the coming week:
Loving God…
To start the year, we’re encouraging the whole congregation to nurture our love for God through daily devotions with the YouVersion Bible App. This is a free app that gives you access to many different translations of the Bible as well as to devotional plans, a verse of the day video, and guided prayer time. Later in the month we’ll invite the congregation to join a short-term devotional plan together through YouVersion. I encourage you to explore this great app (or access it on a computer at bible.com). If you prefer print devotional resources and recommendations, we will also have those available for everyone at church beginning this Sunday.
Loving Our Neighbors…
I encourage you to pray for our new Good Neighbor Team—six people from PPC (Diana and Mark Lockhart, Sue Heiligman, Kristin Cuccia, Barbara Jackson, and Val Roach) who will be paired with a newly arriving refugee family within the next month or so. Please hold the team in prayer, as well as the family they will be helping transition to life in Rochester.
And,
Join us Sunday for worship at 8:30am and 11am (with Church school and our “Right Here, Right Now” Adult Faith Formation class at 9:30am) as we continued to love God and our neighbors together as a family of faith.
