Light in the Darkness

With the recent tragic shootings in our nation and the ongoing struggle of the pandemic, on Sunday evening, June 5, we are offering a time to come together, grieve, find support, and seek God’s loving presence. Our evening will include two parts—first a time of prayer, followed by a presentation and conversation with church member and school counselor Mark Fish. You are welcome to come to either or both portions of the evening, and to join for just a few minutes or for the entire event. We pray that this open space and time will be one of comfort, consolation, and coming together in love and hope.

7-7:30pm: Light in the Darkness: A Time of Prayer. The sanctuary will be open with space for individual prayer, lighting candles of hope, and healing prayer as requested. With Pastor Laura, Pastor Harry, and Spiritual Director Jeanne Gehret.

7:30-8pm: “Coping with Trauma and Loss.” PPC member Mark Fish, who is a local school counselor and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, will be sharing ways to cope, find support, and care for one another and ourselves. A question and answer time will follow the presentation.

Note: Part of Mark’s presentation will include reflection on how parents can mentally/spiritually cope with this violence while also sending children to school each day. Parents—it’s up to you whether you feel that your child/youth would benefit from attending or if you prefer to attend alone.
